The Jonathan Gitelson Radio Project is a weekly radio program on 107.7 WVEW Community Radio in Brattleboro, Vermont. Each week he explores a different theme through music and miscellaneous soundbites. Jon invited me down to come and talk about some of the music that has been featured at The Loading Dock over the past 5 years.
Jon and I go way back. We became friends when we were of high school age in the early 90s. We never shared any institutional affiliation, we got to know eachother through friends of friends and all of our friends were musicians. Jon and I were the least musically gifted of our group so naturally we had a lot of time to hang out and talk about crazy ideas about Art and share music. Sharing music was steeped in ritual, more often than not it was via dubbed cassette while driving around Westchester NY in search of an all night diner. Fast forward 30 odd years and we are still at it. Have a listen. Every band I book at The Loading Dock has a story, as you will hear.
